What we’re doing
Electricity monitoring equipment from Gridspy has been installed in a number of 
houses across New Zealand. We are using this equipment to collect detailed data on household appliance energy use. This detailed information will help us understand the scope for how appliance energy use might change in the future due to new technologies and behavioral change. Potential transformative technologies include smart meters, smart appliances and energy generation such as photovoltaics.
This information will also help to understand how new technologies and behavioral changes might impact the electricity grid in the future.
