Dr Michelle ScottWhat we’re doing?

We are examining why vehicle drivers are not inclined towards driving in an efficient fuel-saving manner.  Existing research has shown that even when people know many of the things they can do to be more fuel-efficient, they often do not bother taking the actions (e.g. checking tyre pressures or controlling speed).

We will investigate whether being a fuel-efficient driver forms part of the ‘ideal’ to which people aspire, and any motivational factors that will encourage change towards this.

What we’ve found out so far

We don’t have any findings to report yet.
